Aluminium is moulded and processed into products in a variety of forms through the processes from melting, transferring, holding to casting, etc. Insulation products manufactured by NICHIAS for molten aluminium feature non-wetting and low erosion performance, excellent thermal insulating properties and long service life. They are used as machined or cast components directly coming into contact with molten aluminium in every stage of processing. They contribute to secure high-quality aluminium products and consistency in quality as well as to improve productivity, efficiency of casting work and energy consumption.
Product solutions supplied by NICHIAS vary from cloth gaskets used after being treated with a rubber compound to seal distorted flanges and furnace cover flanges to which high seating stress cannot be applied, to moulded shapes for the molten aluminium vessels, to heat insulation boards (zonolite-based calcium silicate) used as launders, floats and other parts that come into direct contact with molten aluminium alloys, to calcium silicate thermal insulation materials which are able to withstand temperatures of up to 1000C and used as auxiliary insulation material for molten aluminium vessels, to high temperature packings used in furnace covers to seal the furnace.

|(A) Cloth gasket
|1400 Manhole Gasket
These gaskets are made of cloth to which a rubber compound is applied woven into a manhole shape and then embossed. They are used to seal distorted flanges and furnace cover flanges to which high seating stress cannot be applied. Type selection is made according to temperature, shape of selected parts, required strength etc.
|(B) Wear-resistant, High-density Castable
This product provides higher density than ordinary castables. Because it is highly resistant to wear and allows high-density molding to provide high resistance to corrosion by molten metal or slag, it is used for the inner lining of a melting furnace, the bottom of a ladle and the surface of a gutter on which molten metal flows.

|4723 LUMISUL™ LD
One-piece parts moulded and sintered to various shapes for use as the inner lining of molten metal vessels that come into direct contact with molten aluminium alloys. Due to excellent non-wettability and corrosion resistance as well as ease of removal of adhered metal, they are used for launders, bath units for holding furnaces, transfer pipes etc.
|(D) Board type Heat Insulation Materials for transfer Casting and Holding
Zonolite-based calcium silicate boards with excellent heat resistance. Because of their low heat conductivity and superior workability, these boards are formed into launders, floats and other parts that come into direct contact with molten aluminium alloys.
|(E) Packing for high Temperatures
|NA Square Braided Packing BH, WH
Both types of packing are made of high-density braid ceramic fibre reinforced with metal wires. Type BH is impregnated with graphite based material; type WH with titanium based material. The packing is used in furnace covers to seal the furnace. Type selection is made according to temperature, shape of sealed parts etc.
|(F) Ceramic Fibre based Fibrous Castable
Fibrous unshaped refractory material used for the inner lining of molten metal vessels that come into direct contact with molten aluminium alloys. Due to its excellent non-wettability and corrosion resistance as well as low heat conductivity and high resistance to thermal shock, this material is used for the inner lining of ladies, molten metal vessels and gutters as well as for backup materials.
|(G) Ceramic Fibre Moulded Products
|FINEFLEX BIO™ Moulded Products
These products are made of a mixture of bulk ceramic fibre 'FINEFLEX BIO™' and a small amount of binder, which is moulded into various shapes. The material is used as auxiliary material for molten aluminium vessels.
